Sam played his first real baseball games today in a tournament in Cedar City. They lost the first game 17-11 to another team from St. George (that we beat in a practice game last week). They beat a team from Vegas 12-11 in the second game. Sam played third base for the entire first game and made some good plays. He was the starting pitcher the second game and did really well. They scored 4 runs in the first inning before there was even an out. He was pretty wild and walked 3-4 batters - he then settled down and struck out the next 3. He pitched the next two innings and only gave up one more run. When he came out we were winning 10-5. Vegas came back and went ahead 11-10 then we went back ahead 12-11 and held them scoreless in the last inning. He batted 6 times total, struck out once, walked twice, and had three base hits (although they were pretty weak - two little pop flies right over the first baseman and a swinging bunt.
Will update you more tomorrow and post some pictures. We are now at the cabin in Brian Head as we decided to stay up here where it is cool. FYI - Jenny's birthday is Sunday !!!!
